2020

All we can do is take each day as it comes, try to make the best of things, hope and pray for better times, and do our part to help others.

In our continuing effort to thank our generous donors and to keep our friends and supporters informed, we offer this brief report.

For most of us, this has been an “annus horribilis” – a downright horrible year.  From the pandemic to racial issues, to hurricanes and wildfires, health concerns, financial stress, and a lack of civility.  You name it, and it seems like 2020 has brought it.

All we can do is take each day as it comes, try to make the best of things, hope and pray for better times, and do our part to help others.  We feel blessed that Lyn’s foundation affords us the opportunity to provide comfort and care to those who are suffering or stressed at this particularly difficult time.  We hope you feel the same way.

Through your generosity, we have been able to support critical programs that impact the health and well-being of children and their families in Baltimore, Savannah, and around the world, such as:

Kids Kicking Cancer – a new program for children with cancer and other diseases at Memorial Health in Savannah to help control the pain of treatment.

The Baltimore Hunger Project – helping to feed low income school children with weekend meals.

Lyn’s Fund at Sinai Hospital – providing no cost transportation for treatment sessions to pediatric cancer patients who would otherwise be unable to afford rides.

Flashes of Hope – preserving memories with portraits for children with cancer and their families.

Horizons Savannah – providing at risk students with summer programming to help them achieve their potential.

In addition, the Lyn Stacie Getz Foundation provided funding in 2020 to numerous other organizations and programs such as L.O.V.E. summer camp for disadvantaged children, Chai Lifeline’s Lazy Sundays program, education for at risk Ethiopian women in Ashkelon, mental health awareness programming for high school students, inclusion and ability programming for children with autism, and Park Place Outreach (which provides support for homeless youth).  Our funding of these programs in 2020 alone exceeded $70,000, thanks to you.

We strive to find programs and organizations with low overhead and low operational costs, so that every dollar can go where it should go – directly to the people who need it.

You may know that Alan and Carol have had health issues of their own of late.  That has not slowed their passion to want to help others and to continue the good work done in Lyn’s memory.

We all pledge to continue on the path that you have helped us create.  And again we thank you for being part of this journey.

With love and appreciation,

Carollee, Alan, Randy, Joel, Stacey, Sophie, Eli, Hannah, and Noah
