2022

ANNUAL REPORT
OCTOBER 25, 2022

It was always important to our parents, Alan and Carollee, to properly thank every donor. Last year was a tough year for us personally. Alan passed away and Carollee’s Alzheimer’s progressed. We took a year off from writing you – but please know that every gift received over the past two years has been greatly appreciated.

The Lyn Stacie Getz Foundation’s mission is to support health, wellness, and educational programs, with an emphasis on benefiting children and their families. We have maintained our vigilance in finding and funding meaningful charitable programs with low administrative costs.

In 2021, the Foundation made over $60,000 in grants including those to The Baltimore Hunger Project (which make sure nutritious food is available for Baltimore City elementary and middle school children), LOVE Mentors (which provides summer day camp experiences for at-risk youth in Savannah, Georgia), Lyn’s Fund at Sinai Hospital (which provides transportation for pediatric oncology patient visits), and eight other worthy causes.

In 2022, we again were able to make grants of approximately $60,000 to many of the same programs. This year, we also sought to fund additional programming addressing the increased mental health concerns impacting children that have resulted from the Covid pandemic and other stressors. In addition, we decided to address food insecurity in Harford County.Maryland with a grant made to the Harford Community Action Agency

Other projects we are proud to continue to support are Achoteynu (which assists Ethiopian immigrants to Israel in obtaining nursing and occupational therapy degrees, and thereby enabling these young adults to build careers and also help others) and imadi’s Big Brother/Big Sister program (for children with chronic illnesses or genetic conditions).

We hope to continue giving far into the future. With that in mind, Alan and Carollee’s grandchildren – Sophie, Eli, Hannah, and Noah – were asked for input about potential grants. They suggested honoring their four grandparents this year by funding organizations addressing small cell lung cancer. progressive supranuclear palsy, Alzheimer’s, and multiple myeloma —the four diseases that impacted their grandparents. In addition, we funded the V Foundation (which seeks a cure for all cancers) and the Red Devils (a Baltimore based breast cancer organization).Unfortunately, we all have family and friends impacted by these and other diseases.

My parents always liked including a quote in their annual letters. So here goes:

Kindness can become its own motive.
We are made kind, by being kind.

– Eric Hoffer

Thank you for your kindness!

Thank you for your continued interest and thoughtfulness. May the coming year bring you, all those you love, and all of us good health and blessings!

Sincerely,

Carollee, Joel, Randy, Stacey, Sophie, Eli, Hannah & Noah
